There’s always this little ambition I had of collecting certain items in FFXI. Comparing to some players I must admit the list has become somewhat short from it’s origins. It’s also been shortened due to lack of real chances at obtaining some other dream-like items or simply because the improvements of having such items would be so minimal they’re not worth the effort.

Dalmatica: Arguably, this item should never be on the first position of a wishlist, since the usage of it is somewhat too small compared to the cost of acquiring it. It would really fit my Bard (no refresh piece at the very moment) and specially for my Red Mage, when I finnally get those last levels. Dropped off Odin, Nidhogg and Aspidochelone.

Bard’s Roundlet: In my opinion one of the most important AF2s that drops in Dynamis – San D’Oria. Would really help my skill/debuff set on Bard and it’s the very best item for Bard for the head slot. Never had much luck in most of my San D’Orian runs, so hopefully this changes soon.
- Sha’ir Manteel: Continuing with the trend, another item for Bard. Sha’ir manteel, along with Dalmatica has been one of the earliest items in my wishlist for this job. The main JSE’s appealing for -% Song Spellcast makes it really appealing, if we add a cool-looking body piece this means it’s possibly a no-brainer. Would really help out on TP Burns. Sha’ir manteel doesn’t drop, instead is crafted and its main (and most expensive) item in the synthesis is dropped either from Bahamut on “The Wyrmking Descends”, Vrtra or desynthesised from Vir/Femina Subligars (8 million valuable from NPC).
- Novia Earring: To me one of the best earrings for mage-jobs (specially White Mage, Red Mage, Bard, and to a lesser extent Black Mage) alongside it’s male counterpart and Relaxing Earring. It is received after trading an Aura of Voracity to Meret (NPC). The Aura of Voracity is dropped from Jailor of Love.
- Herald’s gaiters: Of course, another legendary mage item. Would really help out to get to quick pops in a relative short time, as well as be of some help to solo big monsters on Black Mage. Regardless it’s one of the hardest in the list so obtaining them off Tiamat is a somewhat hard achievement, not only for the drop rate (which isn’t so bad) but because many linkshells are after them.
- Cleric’s Pantaloons: Since I have many upgrades in the Merit Category for Barspells, this item would make them even more powerfull. This, along with Enhancing Magic equip would help tanks in duties such as fight where magical damage would be deadly or during Wyrm’s flight. They’re dropped from monsters in Dynamis – Jeuno.
- Cleric’s Briault: I find this body piece one of the most important ones for White Mage (if it wasn’t for Noble’s tunic, it would be the most important). Tremendously important on Salvage/Dynamis/Einherjar and Nyzul Isle Investigation. It drops, like most body pieces, in Dynamis – Beaucedine.
- Errant Cape: I do have a Peace Cape +1 which practically gives the very same stats as this piece of equipment, but the MP boost would be really gorgeous. Their prices though are to the roof, specially due to the fact that the NM that drops the Amity Cape (later synthed into Peace Cape and eventually synthed again into the Errant Cape), Capricious Cassie is often monopolised as well as the chances of break and loosing the cape aren’t appealing either.
- Seveneyes: I’ve wanted this item since the first news about it. The fact that you can save much MP only from Conserve MP on Red Mage or White Mage when buffing or on Black Mage when D2′ing (in a much less extent on Black Mage of course). Probably more of a trophy than to actually put it in good use.
